According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual salary (ie the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned either above or below) for claims adjusters was $63,680 in May 2016. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $37,540, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $95,760.

In May 2016, the average annual salary for claims adjusters working in the federal government was $73,040 while state and local claims adjusters (excluding education and hospitals) earned $59,130. Other top industries for claims adjusters include insurance carriers ($62,530), management of companies and enterprises ($61,75), agencies, brokerages, and other insurance related activities ($61,270).
